My China Trip Wrecked Me for the Ordinary
In February 2006 my friend Don Young and I went on a ministry trip to China. I had been there with Don just a couple years before in Beijing. He had planted an International congregation there in 1999 and he invited me to come and do some equipping in prophetic evangelism. This time Don wanted me to return to China with him to encourage the saints and to explore church planting in Shanghai. Both of us have had that gateway city on our hearts for several years. In Shanghai we meet with Christian leaders and sought the Lord for discernment and the knowledge of His will. The Lord confirmed to us that it is in His heart for Don to plant there in the future and He showed us the challenges that we could encounter specifically with the religious affairs bureau, which is head quartered in Shanghai. On this trip we meet quite a few young people who were completely open and spiritually hungry. As we left Shanghai I was so completely overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit that I just wept and wept. The harvest is so ripe in China that all you have to do is touch it and it falls off the trees. Once you get missions and the needs of the harvest in your blood it wrecks you from being able to spend the strength of your life simply caring for yourself and your family. This trip in China wrecked me even further for the ordinary.
